Burwell House

Burwell House is the newest of our homes and is located in rural Somerset and is registered to care for three young people under 17, and can facilitate a mixed gender accommodation.

Burwell House is a large six bedroomed detached property situated in rural Somerset, and is shared between the main home and an annex very close to the main building.

The accommodation, which is fully centrally heated, consists of:

Main Building:

  • A lounge equipped with a TV, DVD player and Sky viewing.
  • An L shaped fully fitted kitchen with integrated appliances and dinner.
  • Chill out room/snug with TV & Games console alongside comfy chairs and beanbags.
  • A bathroom with over bath shower and WC.
  • Three young people bedrooms.
  • One staff bedroom.
  • Garden.

Annex:

  • L shaped kitchen fitted with integrated appliances.
  • Two bedrooms.
  • Large upstairs communal space.
  • Bathroom with walk in shower.

Each young person has their own bedroom with privacy, subject to safeguarding for the young person’s safety and protection. All bedrooms are furnished with a single bed, bedding, study desk and lighting. Each room is provided with a television, storage space for clothing and safe storage for personal belongings. Any valuables belonging to the young person can be stored securely. Each room will have a lock and the young person will be responsible for the key to this and the upkeep of their room, with support from the home where required.

The home is located on the outskirts of rural community that includes farmland, woodland and a small village within walking distance, which has a small general store, small church, park, village hall, amongst houses. The village has a frequent bus service.

The closest large town is within 12 miles and offers offers facilities such as supermarkets, a train and bus station with regular transport links to many seaside and city destinations. There is also local access to Youth Clubs and Army cadets, a leisure centre and a beachfront. High street shops, a shopping centre, three retail parks and a full range of fast-food establishments, restaurants and cafes are also in close proximity to Burwell Home.

A range of easily accessible outdoor activities include:

  • Walking on public footpaths that are clearly marked tracks or feature walks
  • Cycling areas
  • Parks and recreational grounds are available for ball games such as football
  • Nature reserves
